Solar System Explorer
An interactive educational journey through our cosmic neighborhood. Explore planets, discover cultural myths from around the world, play mini-games, and learn about exoplanets and comets in 8 languages.
Non-Linear Learning
Solar System Explorer is a non-linear, exploratory learning experience that transforms astronomical education into an engaging adventure. Rather than presenting information in a traditional linear format, learners discover facts organically through interaction, gameplay, and curiosity-driven exploration.
The simulation begins in a spacecraft control room with blast doors closed. Users must actively choose to "open the viewport" and engage with space, creating agency and anticipation from the very start.
Interactive Features
Planet Information
Click any planet to reveal physical data, orbital periods, moon counts, temperatures, and randomized fun facts.
Cultural Mythology
110+ myths from civilizations worldwide: Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Chinese, Japanese, Aztec, Hindu, Aboriginal, and more.
Atmosphere Analysis
Periodic table-style visualization showing atmospheric composition with element symbols and percentages.
Procedural Audio
All sounds are generated using Web Audio API: power-up sweeps, planet tones, sparkles, and sci-fi effects.
Mini-Games
UFO Contact
"They're out there. Can you make contact?"
When a UFO appears, aim your radio antenna using arrow keys and fire signals to establish contact. Progressive difficulty with accelerating UFO speeds. Success reveals data about 40 fictional alien species from real confirmed exoplanets like Proxima Centauri b, TRAPPIST-1e, and Kepler-442b.
Comet Sample Collection
"Chase the cosmic wanderers and collect their secrets."
Pilot a spacecraft using WASD or arrow keys with physics-based momentum. Navigate through 14 drifting asteroids to reach the comet before time expires. A 3-life system adds challenge. Success reveals data about 20 real comets including NEOWISE, Halley, Hale-Bopp, and the first interstellar comet Borisov.
8 Languages
